A newly established school under the Apostolic Faith Mission in Zimbabwe is steadily gaining ground in the education sector, recording encouraging enrolment growth and infrastructure development within its first year of operation.
Living Waters Tynwald School, which opened its doors in January 2025, currently enrols 77 learners across Forms One to Four. The school is led by headmaster Edward Sungayi.
According to the school administration, the institution has managed to increase its enrolment despite operating in a highly competitive education environment in the Tynwald area.
Growing Enrolment
The current enrolment statistics show a balanced gender distribution. Form One has 32 learners, comprising 13 girls and 19 boys, while Form Two has 29 learners, made up of 16 girls and 13 boys.
In Form Three, the school has 10 learners, consisting of 6 girls and 4 boys, while Form Four has 6 learners, with 3 girls and 3 boys.
Overall, the school has 38 girls and 39 boys, bringing the total enrolment to 77 learners.
School authorities say the growing enrolment is a positive indicator of confidence from parents and the surrounding community in the institution’s vision and academic programmes.
Infrastructure Development
As part of its growth strategy, the school has already completed the construction of a five-classroom block, providing a stable learning environment for the current classes while creating space for future expansion.
The development is seen as a significant milestone for the young institution, which continues to build its educational facilities to match its growth.
Challenges
Despite the progress made, the school has encountered several challenges typical of emerging learning institutions.
One of the major setbacks has been staff turnover, with the school losing two experienced teachers who proved difficult to replace.
The school has also encouraged learners studying Computer Science to acquire laptops to support practical learning. However, only a few learners have managed to obtain the required devices.
Additionally, the administration noted that textbook shortages remain a concern, as only a small number of learners have been able to purchase the recommended learning materials.
Future Plans
Looking ahead, the school has outlined several initiatives aimed at improving learner welfare and strengthening academic programmes.
Among the priorities is the introduction of boarding facilities, which will allow learners from distant areas to access the school more easily.
The school is also planning to introduce transport services, provide meals for day scholars, and expand its academic offerings by introducing the Cambridge curriculum.
School leadership expressed optimism that these developments will enhance the institution’s attractiveness to parents while supporting the holistic development of learners.
As one of the emerging education institutions linked to the Apostolic Faith Mission in Zimbabwe, Living Waters Tynwald School aims to contribute to the church’s vision of providing quality education grounded in Christian values.
