The Education Department of the Apostolic Faith Mission in Zimbabwe (AFM) Harare East Province recently honoured academic excellence by conferring prizes and certificates to outstanding students and teachers in the province during a conference held at the provincial centre.

The ceremony, led by Harare East Province Education Department Leader Dr Ezekiel Mvundla, recognised top-performing students from different academic levels, including Grade 7, Ordinary Level, Advanced Level, and Degree programmes.

Students who excelled in their studies were awarded Certificates of Excellence in recognition of their hard work and commitment to education. The event also took time to honour teachers across the province for what organisers described as their sterling performance in producing strong academic results during the 2025 academic year.

In addition to individual awards, the conference presented floating trophies to church assemblies that recorded the highest pass rates in the 2025 academic year, highlighting the role of church-based educational support in promoting academic achievement among learners.

He also awarded gold medal to N Muteranduwa for being the overall best student who achieved 25 points at A level

Speaking during the ceremony, Dr. Mvundla applauded both students and educators for their dedication and urged continued commitment to education within the church community.

He also made an appeal to assemblies, individuals, and companies to assist learners who are struggling to pay school fees.

“We appeal to all assemblies, individuals and companies to assist with cash contributions to fund school fees for needy students,” said Dr Mvundla.

The awards ceremony underscored the church’s commitment to promoting education and nurturing academic excellence among its members, while encouraging collaboration between the church and the broader community to support learners in need.
